Japanese high school student Kageno Mitsuki aspires to the idea of the "Eminence in Shadow", one who lurks within darkness, hunting those of the same astral nature. He actively trains himself to this end, but one fateful night, he succumbs to a car accident and his soul is reincarnated into another world as the eldest son in the Baron Kageno's family, Cid Kageno. With his unyielding obsession from his past life to become an "Eminence in Shadow", the young Cid ends up rescuing seven of his childhood friends from the possession of demons. As Cid and his seven rescued friends grow into adulthood, they establish an organization by the name of "Shadow Garden".
