Desaro, a senior biology student at St. Petersburg Naval College, embarks on a research voyage with his mentor, Rhein, to study mermaids. Near Iceland's waters, they capture a mysterious black-scaled merman. The powerful and beautiful creature instantly captivates the academically obsessed Desaro, who remains utterly unaware that he has unwittingly stepped into a role long since assigned to him—that of the prey.
